About the Artist
Artist Bio
Elizabeth Reynolds is a contemporary painter based in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
Her paintings are rooted in nature, memory, and color. Working in layered acrylics, she creates luminous abstracted forms with a strong visual presence. Her work offers stillness without becoming quiet, inviting reflection while holding its ground.
Reynolds’ paintings center on growth, strength, stability, and change. The forms feel familiar, but remain open to interpretation, allowing each viewer to bring their own experience to the work.
Reynolds holds a BFA in Illustration from Moore College of Art & Design. After years in art education, graphic design, and illustration, she now works full time in her home studio. Her paintings have been included in juried exhibitions throughout New England and are held in private collections across the United States.
My work explores growth, strength, stability, and change through nature, memory, and imagination.
Working in acrylic on canvas, I approach each painting intuitively. A painting often begins with a feeling, a place I’ve carried with me, or an image I keep returning to. Some come from memory or dreams; others emerge as I paint.
Each painting takes shape through layers of color, line, and gloss. The forms begin in nature, then shift through imagination and feeling as I work. As layers of drybrush and glaze build, colors change, depth develops, and a new world emerges within the painting.
Color leads the work. Shapes appear and grow stronger through layering. The final image reflects how nature and memory can change over time. Underlying the work is my own experience of change, and the resilience and strength I find through my connection to the earth and the meditative act of painting.
